Greetings everyone! This is George the Funky Dread. I’m currently based in the groovy town of Blacksburg,VA. I’m a Rastaman in spirit & a drummer in livity!! I’ve been playin’ the drums for well over 25 of my 40 years. I love all types of music & musicians so my influences are all over the place!! I love all conscious people that are open & free!! I currently play with The Sol Creech Band & a few other projects here in VA. My 1st venture into the crazy world of rock & soul was with The Yams from Outer Space. Then I went onto the world of Reggae with The Mighty Jah Works out of Baltimore,MD. Right after that experience I rocked pon tha stage with True Sound-a Blacksburg based Hip-Hop Ghetto Rock thang. Music has been a continual blessing!!! Oh yeah, as far as musical mentors go i have to add Mike Kirby to the top of the list!! He was my main man in the Yams & 1 of the baddest guitarists on the planet! Big influences for us as a band are Band of Gypsy’s(Jimi), Johny “Guitar” Watson, Taj Mahal Trio, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, The Meters, 70’s era reggae, Funkadelic (Maggot Brain era), ol’ school hip-hop beats and Piedmont blues!
